Landmark Deal Introduces the Chinese Market to a Natural Canadian Rarity
Calgary, AB: KORITE, the proud Canadian gemstone and jewellery company, has entered Chinese markets with a momentous alliance and distribution agreement. To achieve this milestone opportunity, KORITE executives Martin Bunting, Chief Executive Officer, and Wilson Yip, Co-founder and Vice President, have signed an agreement with China-based Mahasida Jewellery as part of the Alberta Trade Mission Ceremony, witnessed by the Honourable Deron Bilous, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, and Ms. Rachael Bedlington, Consul General of Guangzhou.
“Without the support of public service stakeholders at the federal, provincial, municipal levels, the promise of this partnership would have been a challenging goal to achieve,” says Bunting. “We are as excited as we are proud to deliver KORITE to the China market. The potential for our business is significant. The beauty of ammolite – a view by Mahasida – is now China’s to discover.”
The strategic alliance with Mahasida ensures the distribution of finished KORITE jewellery in China and further development of innovative product technology resources in the China market. Since assuming ownership of KORITE in 2015, Bunting and KORITE President Jay Maull have been working alongside Wilson Yip towards this momentous agreement with Mahasida.
Mahasida is under the stewardship of Mr. Lincoln Hai Yang Xi as Chief Executive Officer and Miss Barbara Yan Qing, President. It is Mr. Lincoln Hai Yang Xi who recognized the beauty of the ammolite gemstone and its affinity for the China market. Through their dedication, organization, and hard work with the Mahasida team, they have built a strong foundation to introduce ammolite to the market and continue to increase awareness for the gemstone. With Mr. Yip’s dedication and direction to highlight KORITE’s message and brand, their joint efforts have brought the agreement to fruition. Ammolite will soon become coveted and celebrated for its rarity and uniqueness as Mahasida brings the exclusive product to the China market.
For KORITE, the strategic alliance is a milestone as the company aggressively expands and focuses on its future opportunities to introduce the world to the rare ammolite gemstone. The company has plans to share its history, culture, and innovation with the world, recently launching in the United States with Jewelers of America, and continuing its efforts by supplying high quality, finely crafted jewellery to over 28 countries.
In Canada, KORITE pays tribute to its roots as Heritage Canada has licensed KORITE to be as the official jewellery supplier for Canada’s 150th birthday celebration in 2017, by bringing ammolite to the forefront with symbolic keepsakes. Selected jewellery will be presented to international dignitaries to highlight Canada during the 150th birthday celebrations.
KORITE is the direct source of the finest ammolite available. Since 1979, KORITE has been the largest, most trusted source of the colourful gemstone and it controls more than 90 per cent of the world’s known ammolite resources. The KORITE mine is the only fully operational, legal commercial ammolite mine in the entire world. The company, its discovery team, craftspeople, designers, and sales professionals stand by quality and professional confidence at every stage of its International operations. In addition to mining ammolite, KORITE’s design and production division sells fine jewellery around the world in more than 28 countries.
